Below are states that have Paid Medical and Family Leave provisions and in which 37signals has employees. If you work in one of the following states and contribute to these programs, you may qualify for leave. California Medical and Family Leave
- Residents of California may be eligible for continuous or intermittent leave to care for themselves, a child, or another family member.
- Disability Insurance for when you’re unable to work and lose wages due to a non-work-related illness or injury, pregnancy, childbirth, surgery, or alcohol or drug rehabilitation, up to 52 weeks. CA-DI offers monetary benefits, but not job protection.
- Paid Family Leave for Bonding with a new baby or after the placement of an adopted or foster child. CA-PFL does not provide job protection, only monetary benefits, up to 8 weeks.
- Paid Family Leave for Caregivers to care for a seriously ill or injured family member. CA-PFL does not provide job protection, only monetary benefits, up to 8 weeks.
Colorado Medical and Family Leave
- Residents of Colorado may be eligible for continuous or intermittent leave to care for themselves, a child, or other family member. CO-PMFL programs provide job protection and monetary benefits.
- Paid Family Leave for Bonding with a new baby or after the placement of an adopted or foster child, up to 16 weeks.
- Paid Family Leave for Family Care to care for a seriously ill or injured family member, up to 12 weeks.
- Paid Family Leave for Self to manage your own serious health condition, up to 12 weeks.
- Paid Family Leave for Military Families to manage arrangements when an immediate family member is called to active service in a foreign country, up to 12 weeks.
- Paid Family Leave for Safe Leave to care for yourself or a family member after an incident of assault or domestic violence, up to 12 weeks.
Massachusetts Medical and Family Leave
- Residents of Massachusetts may be eligible for continuous or intermittent leave to care for themselves, a child, or other family member. MA-PMFL programs provide job protection and monetary benefits.
- Paid Medical Leave to manage your own serious health condition, up to 20 weeks per benefit year.
- Paid Family Leave for Family Care to care for a loved one with a serious health condition, up to 12 weeks per benefit year.
- Paid Family Leave for Bonding with a child during the first 12 months after the child’s birth, adoption, or foster care placement, up to 12 weeks.
- Paid Family Leave for Family Members of Covered Service Personnel to manage needs that take place immediately after a family member who is covered service personnel is deployed or about to be deployed on active duty, up to 12 weeks per benefit year, or to care for a family member who is service personnel with a serious health condition, up to 26 weeks per benefit year.
New Jersey Medical and Family Leave
- Residents of New Jersey may be eligible for continuous or intermittent leave to care for themselves, a child, or other family member.
- Temporary Disability Insurance to manage your own physical or mental health condition unrelated to your work (including pregnancy and childbirth recovery). Temporary Disability Insurance provides monetary benefits but not job protection, up to 26 weeks.
- Maternity Coverage, which may be comprised of two programs: Temporary Disability for expectant mothers when they need to stop working before and after giving birth; and Family Leave Insurance for newborn bonding. Together, these programs may provide up to 24 weeks of monetary benefits; job protection may be available under other laws.
- Family Leave Insurance to care for a loved one, bond with a new child, or cope with domestic violence. Family Leave Insurance provides monetary benefits, up to 12 weeks or 56 intermittent days; job protection may be available under other laws.
Oregon Medical and Family Leave
- Residents of Oregon may be eligible for continuous or intermittent leave to care for themselves, a child, or other family member.
- Paid Leave Oregon to manage your own physical or mental health condition unrelated to your work (including pregnancy and childbirth recovery). Paid Leave Oregon provides job protection and monetary benefits, up to 12 weeks (up to 14 weeks if pregnancy-related).
- Paid Family Leave for caring for and bonding with a child within the first year of the birth of a new baby or the placement of an adopted or foster child, up to 14 weeks. Paid Leave Oregon provides job protection and monetary benefits.
- Paid Family Leave for Family Care to care for a seriously ill or injured family member, up to 12 weeks. Paid Leave Oregon provides job protection and monetary benefits.
- Paid Family Leave for Safe Leave to care for yourself or your child after an incident of assault or domestic violence, up to 12 weeks. Paid Leave Oregon provides job protection and monetary benefits.
